Update for the week

Posted on Thu, Oct 1, 2015

Popcorn Sales!!! Get out there and SELL, SELL, SELL.  This is a great oppurtunity to earn some money to put torwards Summer Camp dues, campout dues, pretty much any money necessary to participate in the events.

Please bring your order forms each Tuesday so the Troop Popcorn Man (Mr. Essex) can keep up with what has been ordered. There is a prize each week for the top seller.  You have to bring your forms.

TUESDAY 10/6 -  Regular Troop meeting at the Hut (7:30).  The Life Scouts are going to finish presenting first aid information.  This is a requirement for your Scouts 1st class ranking.

SATURDAY 10/24 and SUNDAY 10/25 - Roanoke River Platform Campout.  We will be canoeing in the Roanoke River, and camping on platforms actually on the River.  Something to keep in mind is that there will be little to no insulation from the River, in other words the boys will need to pack sleeping gear to stay warm at night.  Sleeping Pads help with this, something to watch for when you are shopping.  Pack everything in ziploc bags in the event that water (rain or river) becomes a issue.

The Game Plan:

Saturday 10/24 - Feed you Scout a good breakfast, be at the Hut ready to go at 7am.  Please send lunch money for a fast food lunch on the road on the way.

Meal planning for dinner 10/24 and breakfast 10/25 is still in the planning phase...more to come.

Sunday 10/25 - Please send lunch money for fast food on the road on the way back,  We should be home by 4:30.  We will call when we are 30 minutes away from the Hut.

We have several service oppurtunities coming up, please keep these in mind as we all need to do a good deed daily (ask your Scout, he knows what that means):

October 31st - 9am -  Trash pick up along Walker Road  - 2 to 3 hours

November 7th - 9am - Nature Trail at Old Richmond School clean up - 2 to 3 hours

Christmas Project - we will be getting a family to sponsor for Christmas again this year, more news comiong up
